We have had the Christmas goose from Newton Farm Foods for many years now and they are always completely delicious. Its great as you can pop it in after a slowish start after breakfast at around 11( as you head off for Church ) and its ready easily by 3, well rested by 4 … allowing plenty of time for a quick dog walk possibly to the pub…then canapés .
The meat is always rich and succulent and not over greasy. Any spare fat , usually a bowlful keeps so well in the fridge for Roast potatoes or stir fries well into the new year. We cook ours with a can of Guinness going through it and turn it over halfway through the cooking so the juices run back through the meat .Apart from the usually trimmings- clove infused bread sauce, rich goose gravy, we also serve ours with apple and cranberry sauce ( apples and cranberries stewed together with orange juice and a bit of sugar to taste – which works equally well cold with the cold cuts on Boxing Day. Its usually all gone by 27th so you have your fridge back ( unlike with the turkey that can hang around for ages …)I Highly recommend this product !
